Different than the maybe more common Inca Trail, the 7 day Salkantey Trek through the Salkantey Pass 15,190ft to Machu Picchu through mountainlodgesofperu.com was incredible. Can’t recommend this enough. The guides, lodges and meals were fantastic. They have mules that take your bags from lodge to lodge. Make sure to connect with a Travel Clinic to discuss shots and altitude medicine. I didn’t take the altitude meds and got sick in Cusco at 11K ft for a day.
